Political Ombudsman Herro Blair has withdrawn his request of People's National Party (PNP) candidate, Abe Dabdoub, to issue an apology to Andrew Holness, the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) leader designate,
The political Ombudsman and Mr. Dabdoub have been locked in a major stand off since Mr. Dabdoub described the incoming JLP leader as a "loader man" at a political meeting in the North East St Catherine constituency.
The Ombudsman wrote to Mr. Dabdoub urging him to apologise to Mr. Holness.
But Mr. Dabdoub has refused to apologise.
He argued that his characterisation of Mr Holness was not offensive.
In a new development Thursday afternoon [October 20], Bishop Blair said he has now put the matter to rest.
He disclosed his new position in a letter to Portia Simpson Miller, the leader of the Opposition PNP on Thursday.
Mrs. Simpson Miller had written to the political Ombudsman on Tuesday, making it clear that the party would not push Mr. Dabdoub to issue an apology.
According to Mrs. Simpson Miller, Mr. Dabdoub did not breach the political code of conduct in his comments.
In light of Mrs. Simpson Miller's response, Bishop Blair said he is now putting the matter to rest.
