JLP Secretariat counts down to close of leadership nominations
The Secretariat of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) is now in a high state of preparedness with less than 72 hours to go before the deadline for persons to be nominated for the post of Leader.
This week will be a crucial one for the JLP, as come midnight on Thursday it should be known who will replace Bruce Golding as Party Leader.
Andrew Holness, Member of Parliament for West Central St. Andrew and Minister of Education, is still considered a shoo-in to succeed Mr. Golding as up to Monday night he remained the sole nominee for the post.
Senator Aundre Franklin, JLP General Secretary, told RJR News the Secretariat is in countdown mode in preparation for the October 20 deadline.

PNP close to completing candidates’ list
The People's National Party (PNP) is also closer to completing its list of candidates for the General Elections.
In an interview with our news centre on Monday night, Chairman Robert Pickergsill said the Party is on schedule to installing representatives in all 63 constituencies.
Only a handful of constituencies are still without a PNP candidate.
“In that regard we are trying to complete the selection of candidates as fast as possible. We have a process that we adhere to in selecting our candidates, we are almost there. I don’t want to say a couple of days but based on what I know it will not be long before every constituency has its candidate,” Mr. Pickersgill said.
Attorney Abe Dabdoub, who is seeking to represent the party in North East St. Catherine, is among the candidates waiting the green light from the PNP Secretariat.
And a defiant Mr. Dabdoub is still insisting he will not apologize for his “loader man” comment.
Mr. Dabdoub has written to Political Ombudsman Bishop Herro Blair stating that his position is irreversible.
