Another student dies after being hit by a goal post
The life of a six year old male student of a St. Ann-based All Age School ended tragically when a goal post tumbled on his head at the institution Tuesday afternoon, October 11.
The child's identity has not been revealed but according to reports, just before 1:00 p.m., children at the Chester All Age School were on the play field when the grade one student climbed on to a goal post.
The goal post fell to the ground pinning the child underneath it.
The student was rushed to the St. Ann's Bay Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Administrators at the school had reportedly put measures in place to prevent such accidents from happening.
But a source told RJR News that established protocols were not being adhered to.
Representatives from the Ministry of Education went to the school and spent most of the afternoon offering counseling to grief stricken students and teachers at the school.
The Runaway Bay police are investigating.
In March this year, a nine year old student of the Sts. Peter and Paul School in St. Andrew was crushed to death when a goal post on the school's play ground fell on him during play at lunch time.
