    Ashman Extradition Hearing Postponed
    Published: Monday October 10, 2011 | 6:20 pm0 Comments

The extradition hearing of Jamaican Tony Vincent Ashman has again failed to get underway.

The matter is being heard in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.

The hearing has been put off until Wednesday.

The British Government wants Ashman to be extradited to the UK to face trial for murder.

This is the second time the UK is seeking to have Ashman extradited.

Ashman was re-arrested more than a week ago – five months after the Supreme Court ordered his immediate release from police custody.

The order was made because Ashman had been in custody for more than the 60 days allowed by the law, after waving his right to an extradition hearing.

Ashman’s attorney Oswald James is contending that the re-arrest of his client is an abuse of the process of the court and he will be challenging the issue in court.
