Information Minister Daryl Vaz said that a preliminary diagnosis indicates that Shaw’s symptoms could develop into an ear infection that can cause vertigo — a condition that results in giddiness and a loss of balance.

Ok, he mis-spoke. The condition could progress from x to y to Z and show symptoms of alpha, beta, iota, etc. At some point you need to look past those things and not treat everything as needing a critique. These politicians are Jamaicans not just JLP or just PNP. Most of all, they are people. If you made those remarks, in similar circumstances, and as a human when under stress you could possibly make such, I would question any critique of your remarks. Context, context, context.

True that. At that level and in this day and age of the net; speech should have been thoroughly researched and prepared.

thank you. and the sentence, in my view, is inexcusable. it just makes no sense.

then again, maybe Vaz never even said those words and this is the reporter's rendition?!?

anyway, that's why we have these discussion forums.

                        Audley Shaw still in hospital

Finance Minister Audley Shaw remains hospitalised this afternoon.

Shaw was rushed to a medical facility yesterday after falling ill during a Cabinet meeting.

Doctors have diagnosed him with a middle ear infection and sinusitis.

This morning, Daryl Vaz, minister with responsibility for information, said the conditions are considered severe.

Yesterday, a statement from Jamaica House said Shaw has been suffering from flu-like symptoms over the past few days.

The finance minister returned to the island on the weekend after taking his infant daughter to the United States to seek specialist medical treatment.

Doesn't seem like it is a quote from Vaz. Could be a product of the usual Jamaican journalism standard.
