The public defender, Earl Witter, said he will soon submit a report to Parliament on an independent enquiry done by his office into the May 2010 security operations in West Kingston.

The security forces went into Tivoli Gardens to execute a warrant on alleged West Kingston crime lord, Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke.

However, in an alleged battle with criminals, at least 73 people were killed and scores of properties extensively damaged.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Bruce Golding queried the status of the public defender’s report, while speaking at the official opening of a Victim Support Unit counselling centre in West Kingston.

Witter had promised that his report would have been completed and submitted by last month.

Reflecting on the events of May 2010, Golding argued that there were many unanswered questions in relation to the operation.

Residents had accused the security forces of excessive treatment and also claimed that they murdered innocent people.

However, the security forces have denied allegations of extrajudicial killings.
