Well placed Gleaner sources have claimed that former People’s National Party Youth Organisation (PNPYO) president Damion Crawford is to contest the east rural St Andrew parliamentary seat for the PNP, against former Member of Parliament Joan Gordon Webley.
JLP sources said Gordon Webley who is current head of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), would contest the seat for the party.
The Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) Joseph Hibbert is the sitting MP. However, JLP sources have said he may not face the electorates in the next general election.
Hibbert has been under investigation for corruption after UK bridge-building firm Mabey and Johnson pleaded guilty in Britain, to offering him kickbacks in exchange for contracts.
Crawford is expected to replace Peter Blake, whose candidacy was under review according to the PNP.
Crawford had resigned as head president of the PNPYO after being overlooked by the party for the North Trelawny seat.
Contacted yesterday, the outspoken politician refused to say if he was heading to the seat.
