Dr. Horace Chang, minister of housing and water, and his wife were involved in an accident this morning on Dyke Road in Portmore, St. Catherine.
The accident took place in the vicinity of the Jam World Entertainment Centre.
According to eye witness accounts, the vehicle, in which the Changs were travelling, was heading north on Dyke Road. The driver of a Suzuki motorcar reportedly tried to navigate a turn, but the vehicle carrying the Changs collided with the Suzuki before reportedly overturning and settling in a gully.
A motorist on the scene, Devon Brooks, told The Gleaner he helped to remove the Changs from the vehicle, which was partially submerged in sewage water.
Brooks said Mrs. Chang appeared uninjured but the minister complained of pain in his shoulder.
The driver of the Suzuki was taken to Spanish Town Hospital while the minister and his wife were transported to the University Hospital of the West Indies.
