    BLACK LIVES MATTER

  • #2
Mosiah, this is a REAL issue for the people if what I'm reading is correct. If these folk have lived on the land for 100 years there must be some legal right not only for the land but for traditional use of the sea.

Yes, we need tourism and 3,000 will get menial jobs but at what cost? Do you think the sea will remain as pristine and clear as it looks in the picture? Imagine sewage from from 2,900 rooms plus supporting facilities - kitchen, laundry etc. Imagine the additional SQUATTING that will follow when workers without homes or from Kingston etc. move in the area to work on contruction or in the hotel itself.

This is a beautiful headland. Why is all the beautiful seascapes in Jamaica being sold to foreign interests? Look at Negril....look at Ocho Rios...soon all of Jamaica will be swimming in filth.

Like how they threw in at the end the resort GM saying the squatters are not on the hotel's land but the lands adjacent...not important at all...no research and either confirmation or refutation...

Leff the people wid them land. Fi build hotel that might become another Folly

Land sold in 2005, so you mean no consideration was given to the people who occupy adjacent lands.
