A woman has been taken into custody following the discovery of the badly burned body of a new born baby at premises in Nine Miles, St. Ann, on Wednesday, September 21.
The woman, who is suspected to have given birth to the child, was picked up during a police operation in the community.
RJR News was informed that the woman, who is from Mountain View Avenue in St. Andrew, went to St. Ann after being hired to work in a bar.
"We carried out a search of premises occupied by (the woman) where we found blood and some materials with blood on (them). We took the woman and the child for medical examination and we’re waiting (on) forensic and medical (reports) to further our investigations," Senior Superintendent Carlton Wilson, the Head of the St. Ann Police, told RJR News.
It was reported that about 1:30 pm.m, an occupant of a house in Nine Miles found the infant's body at the rear of the premises.
