The Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) has pushed back plans to provide Jamaica with more details on its proposed job creation initiative.
The Jamaica Emergency Employment Programme (JEEP), was among initiatives the PNP announced it would pursue if elected as the next government.
On Monday, PNP Deputy General Secretary Julian Robinson said a press conference would be arranged for early this week to address unanswered questions regarding the party’s proposals.
In Parliament yesterday South West St Ann MP Ernest Smith moved a motion for the Parliament to debate the initiative.
But that request was met with opposition from the PNP.
The PNP Deputy General Secretary told The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre this morning that more information about the programme will not be made known before next week.
Since the programme was announced Sunday, questions have been raised about how it will be funded and its practicality.
In the meantime, JEEP is said to be among issues to be discussed at a press conference to be held by the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) tomorrow.
The JLP said it will also provide information on issues such as the economy and employment at the press conference.
