Thanks! Yeah I been doing it about 2 years now.

I would recommend Toastmasters to anyone who wants to get comfortable with speaking in front of an audience or being able to put together a presentation at short notice. I used to be nervous any time I had to do it but not any more.

I have been thinking about going to improve my skills. How often do you go, how is the atmosphere at toastmasters?

My club meets twice a month. Its a "corporate" club meaning that the company sponsors it and allows us to have meetings on campus during lunch and in the evenings, but only company employees can join.

I've visited and got to know other clubs in the area though, and the atmosphere varies greatly depending on the type of club and the membership base. With the corporate clubs people tend to be more conservative in thier speeches because you are dealing with co-workers and company policy. I know of a club which formed by members at a mostly black church , and that has a totally different feel. Then there is another in a small town which has mostly retired members, again totally different. So my suggestion would be to maybe visit a few nearby before you commit to joining any and se which one feels right.

Its really a good program though. I had no idea it would be so helpful when I got involved. I thought it was more like people giving "toasts" like at a wedding, but it is nothing like that.

Heh heh. No me never record it. Me haffe do it again at the next level of the competition though. Them won't allow video but I think i am going get someone to record the audio.

It went over real well though. I spiced it up a likkle bit, included a girl dat liked East Indian mango which influenced my decision to take on the adventure and a few other little things like that but the basic plot of the story was the exactly as you told it.
