For some time now, both the online Gleaner and the Observer have been posting updates to the news throughout the day. These updates sometimes start as early as before 10:00 a.m., and allow readers to keep in touch with events that happened after the previous night’s publication deadline. This is an excellent move by both newspapers (and an added bonus for online readers).

For example, in today’s Daily Gleaner, the “real” lead story has the following headline: “Cameras Not Priority.” By “real lead story,” of course, I’m referring to the original primary news story for the front page (which newspapers buyers would have seen when they purchased the newspaper on the streets). One of the original secondary front page stories in this morning’s Gleaner was “Scouts Suffering From Leadership Fallout.”

The Lil Wayne story that you mentioned was posted by The Gleaner sometime this afternoon (after 1:00 p.m.), and was simply an updated entertainment news report.
