WHY THE DOUBLE STANDARD MR COMMISSIONER?

Monday, July 11, 2011, Kingston, Jamaica - Jamaicans For Justice is struggling to understand the clear double standards being exhibited by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) as regards the naming of the owner of the ‘arrested’ X6 in the Khajeel Mais case. The refusal to name the person while at the same time leaking all other kinds of information is inexplicable. Indeed, persons have been not only named but also incarcerated for weeks on the basis of far less information than is in the public domain in this case.

JFJ has consistently raised concerns about the JCF's strategy of publishing the names of ‘persons of interest’ without regard to the constitutional and other implications. JFJ maintains that position and states that the same level of restraint shown by the JCF in failing to release the name of this suspect ought to be exercised in ALL cases unless all other avenues to locate the person have been exhaustively explored.

Come now Mr. Commissioner, why the double standard? Justice must meet the test of confidence, reliability, fairness and dependability. Jamaica demands answers, and equality of treatment for all.

Nice but when a cop dies in the line of duty, Dr.Gomes just goes on her pc, pulls up MS word. She then changes the date and name then fires of the email to the relevant parties.

Goes like this: we the JFJ is saddened by the death of........ blah blah.

I'm sorry for anyone who is a cop in Ja. They are sorrounded by criminals and their lives are in constant danger.

Why should she have to send out anything at all when a cop dies?

Spragga Benz pursuing person of interest suit
        2011-07-11 17:40:38 | with audio | (4 Comments)

Spragga Benz- file photo The lawyer for dancehall entertainer Carlton Grant, more popularly known as Spragga Benz, says his client has not given up on pursuing legal action after being named as a person of interest by the police.

Contacted this afternoon, Marlon Gilbert Roberts said Spragga Benz is currently overseas but when he returns they will be meeting to discuss the next step.

Roberts says the process to file legal action has begun with critical documents being put together, including the statement in which the police named his client as a person of interest.

The artiste was named as a major person of interest by the east Kingston police in June in connection with a triple murder in McIntyre Villa.

But it later emerged that Grant was overseas on tour and was scheduled to perform in Colorado on the night of the triple murder.

In the meantime, the attorney says he is surprised that the police did not name the driver of the BMW X6 as a person of interest given the evidence they had against him.

Roberts has suggested that the police are being discriminatory in their action.
