Ambassador Audrey Marks' first year as our representative in Washington has been remarkably positive. Recently she launched her "Jamaica Rising" campaign with a luncheon in honour of Digicel founder, Denis O'Brien, where he addressed chairmen and executives of major corporations, investors, and entities - among them Marriott/Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Viacom, the Carlyle Group, Clark Construction, the Spectrum Group, the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund. Pioneer of Kingston real estate development Maurice Facey also attended the event to give his vote of confidence. Marriott/Ritz Carlton's Laurent De Kousemaeker expressed interest in putting a Marriott hotel not only in New Kingston but also in downtown Kingston.
