Labour Ministry launches programme to help five thousand families
Labour Minister - Pearnel Charles
The Labour Ministry has launched a 70 million dollar programme that's aimed at benefiting five thousand families across the island.
The programme was initially implemented in five parishes, but will now be rolled out across all 14 parishes.
The programme will target one thousand families, granting them 100 thousand dollars each in continuation of the development of the Programme For Advancement Through Health and Education, PATH.
Labour Minister Pearnel Charles, explains that individuals may combine resources under the programme to increase benefits.
“After a student graduates from high school and finish their school allocation , they will be able to get into a new form of development, this maximum hundred thousand dollars to each person is a grant and two and three persons can get together and form a company ….”
Mr. Charles also said the programme will eventually bring more individuals into the formal economy.
“We expect that more people will get employment from it, this is one way that the government hopes to assist people to become a part of the viable economy that we hope to bring on stream” said the Labour Minister.
