U.S. President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu say that differences remain over the path to Mideast peace.

The two leaders commented after holding talks at the White House on Friday. Netanyahu said Israel is willing to make concessions with Palestinians, who have been seeking statehood. However, he said Israel could not go back to the borders that it had before the 1967 Six-Day War. He said those lines would now be "indefensible." Obama proposed Israel consider returning to the pre-war borders - with conditions - in a speech on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Palestinians say they will move ahead with plans to seek U.N. recognition of a state in the West Bank. The Associated Press quotes a senior official, Nabil Shaath, as saying Netanyahu's comments make it clear that he is not a partner for peace. U.S.-mediated peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians stalled in September.

On Thursday, Obama told a U.S. State Department audience that the conditions under which Israel could return to the pre-war borders of 1967 would be mutually agreed swaps with the Palestinians so that secure and recognized borders could be established for both states. Palestinians had embraced Obama's remarks.

Brave tactical political stand , calling them out a week after killing Osama.I am surprised he used the word occupied as in occupation in his televised speech about the Israeli palestinian conflict.

Nethanyahu looked like an idiot , drawing on biblical refrences to justify the occupation and basically debasing all palestinians as terrorist , by bringing up an attack on a bus with a rocket launcher.

Israel position is basically we cannot negotiate with terrorist because you attack us for occupying your land.Put down your weapons live in Israel apart-hate state and we will give you peace on our terms.

Impossible conditions to bargain from while S.A had world sanctions to bring them in line , Israel has none , instead its backed by the most powerfull financial nation in the world. The USA.

Obama gambling in telling it like it is , will work in my opinion .It puts the truth on the table so all can see how the cards are being dealt.Israel doesnt want to be seen as an occupier which in turn means it is violating certain basic human rights i.e freedom .

I believe if anything will bring down his presidency this is it.America will truly see how powerfull the Jewish diaspora is.

If the President plays his cards right for all to see, Israel would have no choice but to follow and do it fairly.

His trump card that has yet to be played is linking the muslim extremisim of the Isreali occuptation , to attacks on americas interest soldiers and institutions. No US president has verbally linked it as a national security threat. Instead we get Isreal is a friend to the end line .Isreal is scared of that card and they know once the president draws for it , the game is over. The american public will wake up and start debating the cost of it .He has already stated america will be on the side of individual human rights in the middle east.In turn the world.

America cannot afford to be on any other side at this time , its not politically and financially convenient in the international sphere .They have to deal with an Arab spring China and African despots, where individuals are demanding freedom. It has alot to do with mass media communication (internet) and T.V.It cannot afford to wage trillion dollar wars policing the world , being hated and attacked while its allies sit back and watch them foot a bill to keep the world status quo safe.

It has come down to , everyone has to play and pay its way for peace and everyone has to come to the table with their cards showing money and political influence in hand.Of course one would expect Isreal to shoot back , or spin it that they both face the same extremism and a hard line should be taken on all extremism, palestinain independence included. That said the President has already dismissed it as the same ole , run around line.

        Let the games begin.

Waste of time & the USA is unwilling to push Israel to make concessions for peace.
