I do not get it,how can there be a nexus regarding both incidents?Did the prior one removed his eyesight?

I do not think a judge is beyond reproach,and given the court deals with contentious affairs,I see no reason for the controversy.
Why would a Govt. official be determined to be perjurious,the reason given does not hold water.I see no reason to doubt his sincerity,and his efforts to make a difference.At least one of the lawyers used character assassination.. and it was well met by the judge.
