<The Kingston and St Andrew Corporation (KSAC) last week issued summonses for more than 30 vendors who they said had illegally constructed business establishments on public sidewalks.
According to Alrick Francis, city inspector at KSAC, the summonses were served on 20 of the vendors who operate on upper Mannings Hill Road, and those on a section of Chancery Street popularly called Price-Rite.
"The summons(es) were issued on Thursday and they have 14 days in which to comply," said Francis.
Asked the reason for the action at this time given that the vendors on Mannings Hill Road have been operating there for some time, Francis said: "Summons(es) were served there before, but the situation is really getting out of hand.">
