  • UPDATE: Ex-cop kills three, commits suicide

The Jamaica police are reporting another multiple murder suicide.

The police say late last night a woman corporal, her son and the father of her child were shot dead by an ex sergeant who then killed himself.

The incident happened in Melrose Mews, Manchester.

The victims are 43-year-old Corporal Bevon Hutchinson-Anderson of Melrose Mews, 45-year-old Rohan Shaw of Rosedale Drive in Mandeville and their 12-year-old Keinon Shaw of Melrose Mews.

The ex-police sergeant, 58-year-old Osbourne Whitton, took early retirement approximately three years ago.

It’s reported that woman corporal Hutchinson-Anderson previously had a relationship with the ex-sergeant.

According to reports, minutes after midnight, the ex-police sergeant gained entry to the house of the police corporal, who had celebrated her birthday yesterday.

After a brief confrontation he reportedly shot her and her son’s father, who was visiting, then went to a bedroom and killed her 12 year old son .

It is alleged that Mr Witton then went to neighbours and told them he had committed the murders and would be shooting himself upon the arrival of the police.

Our correspondent reports that a taxi operator who lives nearby said when the police arrived; he heard a single explosion.

This incident comes less than two weeks after corporal Wayne LLewellyn murdered his father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law and his step-daughter in Three Hill, St Mary.

Llewellyn also shot and injured his wife before taking his own life.

Meanwhile, the police commissioner, Owen Ellington, has appealed to troubled ex-cops and retired police personnel to seek counseling.

He is also appealing to members to help their colleagues with known or visible personal problems by informing supervisors or commanders for action to be taken.

The commissioner says help is available through the police Medical Unit and the Chaplaincy Unit.

He says members and former members will receive counselling or therapeutic assistance from qualified professionals.

In addition he says the police operate a hotline 1 888 2 GET HELP which guarantees confidentiality.

Commissioner Ellington is also reminding supervisors especially sub-officers and Divisional Commanders to pay strict attention to the welfare of those they lead.

He says they must ensure that welfare issues are fully discussed at management meetings.

The force has to be more pro-active than that AND not with just retired officers.

AND the red flag is not if they are having personal problems but their disregard for life and the law.The lack of desire to address extrajudicial killings promotes disregard..

True. This is now escalating, and needs full attention!

These people are such coward monsters. If you're FED-UP with living, why not bow out gracefully and let others LIVE!
