Investigation launched into alleged murder plot against Councillor
Police Commissioner Owen Ellington has directed that an investigation be carried out into an allegation by Councillor for the De la Vega City Division, Enos Lawrence, of a plot by rogue members of the Force to kill him.
In a letter to the media on Thursday, Councillor Lawrence said he received information of the plot and is concerned for his life and the safety of his family.
Mr. Lawrence requested that the Police Commissioner immediately launch an investigation.
A subsequent statement from Commissioner Ellington said the National Intelligence Bureau is to probe the Councillor's claim.
A senior officer has been dispatched to meet with Mr. Lawrence.
However, the Police Commissioner took the Councillor to task for issuing the statement to the media about the damning allegation without allowing time for an investigation to be carried out.
