Portmore Mayor to face no confidence vote
Mayor of Portmore Keith Hinds is to face a no confidence motion come next month.
During Wednesday night's monthly meeting of the Portmore Municipal Council Alrick Campbell, People's National Party councillor for the Edgewater Division, served notice of the motion.
It is expected to be debated at the next monthly meeting of the Council which is scheduled for May 17.
Mr. Campbell said the motion has become necessary due to the failure of Mayor Hinds to effectively carry out his duties.
“We believe that his distancing himself from the decisions of the Council is fostering some contention and what that does is to create in the minds of the administrative staff uncertainty and then it becomes harder for them to execute the policies the Council has decided upon,” Mr. Campbell said.
He said the motion will have the full support of all PNP councillors on the Portmore Municipal Council.
There are seven PNP councillors on the Council with the Jamaica Labour Party having four members.
