Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP)Paula Llewellyn was this morning served with a subpoena to appear as a witness in the Cuban light bulb trial.
Llewellyn was served this morning at 10:07 a.m., as she entered the premises of the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate court in St. Andrew.
The Cuban light bulb resumed today in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s court.
In court, defence for Coleen Wright, KD Knight threw a barb at Llewellyn saying, "you need to be outside".
Llewellyn shot back with "my name is not George," in reference to Emil Geroge who chaired the Manatt-Dudus commission of enquiry.
Yesterday, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey ruled to have Llewellyn barred from hearing the remainder of Rodney Chin's testimony.
Chin is the main prosecution witness in the corruption trial brought against former junior minister, Kern Spencer, and his co-accused, Colleen Wright.
Yesterday, Llewellyn said she will fight any attempt by the defence to have her appear as a witness on its behalf.
Llewellyn said, she will not comply with Pusey's ruling, and that she cannot be compelled to stay out of the courtroom.
She noted her absence would be a gross dereliction of duty and would set a precedent that could undermine the prosecution of future cases.
The move by the defence, according to the DPP, to have her called as a witness is nothing more than a delay tactic and an attempt at a miscarriage of justice.
