Manatt Enquiry Ends With Bombshell

THE MANATT-Dudus commission of enquiry was stunned yesterday by a suggestion that Christopher 'Dudus' Coke knew about plans to indict him only hours after Prime Minister Bruce Golding conferred with the former United States Ambassador to Jamaica on October 29, 2007.
Atkinson dropped the bombshell minutes before he closed his cross-examination of Golding at yesterday's hearing of the Manatt-Dudus commission of enquiry.
Golding poured scorn on the suggestion that he might have leaked information saying that Coke could have received information before he (Golding) spoke with the US diplomat.
The prime minister had started to respond, saying, "If you are suggesting that I ... ," when he was cut short by his attorney Hugh Small, who claimed the information was not in evidence.
As the curtains came down on six days of gruelling cross- examination, Golding dismissed the suggestion that his administration's initiative to contact an influential US politician was to try and get the extradition request withdrawn.
