The Ministry of Justice is rushing to deny a report carried elsewhere in the media that documents relating to the Christopher "Dudus" Coke extradition matter are being shredded at its offices.
In a statement issued late Tuesday night, the Ministry said none of the documents has been destroyed.
It also moved to shed light on the shredding of documents which were kept by Verna McGaw, the former executive secretary to Senator Dorothy Lightbourne, the Minister of Justice.
According to the Justice Ministry, documents which were in Ms McGaw's desk drawer were shredded.
However, it explained that this was done to provide space for the incoming officer who took over when Ms McGaw was transferred from the Ministry in January of last year.
Ms McGaw completed two days of testimony before the Manatt/Dudus Commission of Enquiry at the Jamaica Conference Centre in downtown Kingston on Tuesday.
