Dear Tribalists,
Lend me your ears.
Your party was ushered into power in Sept 2007 to an expectation from many for great and needed change after 18 years of PNP misrule, marked substantially by futility and ineptitude... with unhealthy doses of corruption.
Others like myself were very skeptical of the JLP, regarding the competence and WILL of your party to effect the radical change I saw as being necessary to turn around the spiritual, sociological and economic malaise the PNP bequeathed. Having observed your party both in Government and Opposition for many years...I was even bold enough to predict your party's failure based on my analysis of the policies and personnel operating the party at a leadership level. Needless to say I was not impressed with either.
I am sad to report that in a mere 3.5 years the JLP government has vastly exceeded my expectations of failure.
I will discount the doubling of poverty in that time. I will ignore the fact that virtually every quarter in this period has yielded negative growth and rising unemployment. I will overlook the decline in household incomes (notwithstanding the ignoramuses who quote the Atlas adjusted nonsense). I will forgive the massive 50% or so increase in our sovereign debt.
The failures that most amaze me regarding the JLP are moral and spiritual in nature. These moral failures are even more intense than those of the PNP... as they have occurred in an extremely short time frame.
The culmination of the moral failures of your short regime are centered on the Prime Minister and Minister of Justice in the extradition of prominent Citizen Coke. Their deception, obfuscation, maneuvering and outright lying to the nation in defence of this well known criminal has brought your party, themselves and the nation into disrepute at home and abroad.
Tribalists, there needs to be a change, a renewal and a reformation..... in the search for redemption. I urge you to find the wisdom and the will to achieve this redemption. The PNP tribe is neither ready nor deserving of an early return to power via the default of the JLP implosion in a cloud of corruption and moral debasement.
Golding and Lightbourne must be repudiated and dismissed by your party and the Government it leads as they have lost the moral authority to represent our people. Therein lies the JLP's path to moral & spiritual redemption and renewed hope for Jamaica's liberation from the corrupt tribalsim that holds this great nation back. There are just too many lies that have been sold as truth in our Jamaican Animal Farm by these miscreants masquerading as leaders.
Surely the JLP can find other untainted leaders to move the country forward.
I trust for Jamaica's sake that my plea does not fall on deaf ears.
Sincerely,
Don1
