  • Public defender too??

Interesting to hear Earl Whitter coming out and trying to influence ISSA re the seven schools barred from Champs, where was he last year when Buff Bay was barred from taking part???

So only since St George's messed up and got kicked out that they see 'miscarriage of justice'?

A suh things run. I recall in my early working days that certain companies were dominated by graduates from certain boys schools. Being a graduate of Wolmer's, St Georges, Jamaica College or Kingston College guaranteed an interview and I would say that 99% of the male staff came from these schools.

Dr Small is not easily swayed. He is fair man, that means unless the public defender takes the matter to court then St George's college will not be let in.

What will he take to court or who and on what grounds? The rule has been there for years, is he goiung to say the rule is unjust? Remember Elva Goulboiurne, she would have won the long jump and 200m that year then she went to Penn Relays and broke a 20 year old record set by Carol Lewis

The law is there and everyone knew what it was, none of the nine schools have any excuse for being late. ISSA did more than enough to sensitise the schools by hosting four consultations around the island and the principals, HODs and coaches knew long time what the requirements were

First let me say this, Dr Small is correct and ISSA is consistent and should not bow. He should not let in St Georges or the others. They missed the deadline and the 1 day extension with penalty. What Dr Small and ISSA should do is to try and get the best class 1 students who were left out to participate at Penn Relays or Miami Classics or New York Grand Prix.

Now on to the possible court case. My guess is that the public defender or a parent could take ISSA to court on the basis that children are suffering because of adults employed to ISSA schools and ISSA should not punish children base of failure of its own schools to act. My guess is that the court would back ISSA because they are consistent with the rule but the court could be sympathetic to the suffering of the students and order ISSA let in the schools or specific students who need the meet for scholarship purposes.

I am surprised that a parent backed by the St Georges Old Boys has not yet taken the matter to court and gotten an order to ISSA to include the students until the court decides.

The Daily Misleader has led people astray AGAIN, non participation at Champs does NOT preclude an athlete from taking part at the Penn Relays.

The Penn Relays rules speak to 'eligibility' not participation in your federation's competitions.

A little bit of elbow grease would have saved this mistake...

Yup - That is how I learnt it last year when two of my boys could not run. ISSA should still try to help in any other way that it can.
