THE police high command today issued a warning to rogue elements in Tivoli Gardens to cease pelting them and their vehicles with objects while they patrol the once fortified community.
In a release to the media the police high command said an officer from the Mobile Reserve was injured by objects hurled from high rise buildings.
The cop was hit several times in the chest.
"The High Command is also warning residents of Tivoli Gardens who participate in what are clearly unprovoked and calculated attacks on the Police and its assets to immediately desist," the release said.
"Thus far, the Police have not responded to these unprovoked attacks with force, however, we will not shirk our responsibilities to our members and the law-abiding citizens of Tivoli Gardens. The High Command is warning that if these attacks continue, the Police will have no alternative but to respond appropriately."
Police officers who work in the community have been warned to exercise caution in the execution of their duties.
"The Police High Command is appealing to all members who work or patrol in Tivoli Gardens and its environs to do so with extra care and vigilance. At all times members are asked to take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety," the release said.
