After hearing the DPP and Mr. Leys it is very very hard to believe Mr. Golding and AG Dor that there were sound grounds for delaying the extradition of Dudus. Ms. Lightbourne's later claim that there was "other evidence" and she signed the authority to proceed in the public interest just boggles the mind. NIne months of international scorn and ridicule and this legal officer suddenly changes her mind at the same time as the PM claims he will instruct her to sign is just too much! It's insulting

There now appears to be lots more interests that the JLP and GOJ. Given the legal representation in the COE, it is now clear that this may have been a Bruce Golding initiative.
Note the separation in lines taken by the JLP (Phipps) and that taken by Golding (Small). Note also the understanding of Ronald Robinson--not a JLP matter, but GOJ. Wait for the testimony of the then JLP Gen-Sec.

"One or both will have to go". I agree with you Mark. It will be both however. Add Vaz and Leys to those who will have to go. Samuda said knew nothing, so too Baugh but they were the ones defending the PM last year May 16th In Ocho Rios. It seems Bruce will have brought down his entire government. Bruce is now the biggest asset of the PNP. If you think Seaga was bad, try Bruce. With him it will be a one term if so much government. So much SHAME must lead to Bruce's IMMEDIATE RESIGNATION.

Well...I find myself agreeing with the majority of what you say regarding the Manatt enquiry.
However I dont know if it is me alone but I sincerely get the impression that Minister Nelson is not a man of impeccable integrity and it frightens me that this man is responsible for national security , probably the most important ministry other than finance. But i could probably say the same of the PM.

Your column reduces this serious matter to a joke. May I say, as a jamaican I am still wonderign whether I am now US property (slave) or whether mmy sons have benn signed away for rendition (including waterboarding etc). How did $3,2M get in my country unnoticed and spent w/o any accountability? Whether the Ja Bar assoc notes the hooliganism of it's members on int'l display and what if anything is going to be done? What else of min eis signed away and are these 4 the only existing MOU? Too sick

The PM did not set up this COE for a joke. This is a profound reading of the Jamaican psyche. The best lawyers in the isle are on show, guiving many who have never been in a courtroom, a glimpse of the superb trial/adversarial skills of those trained in the English lawyering tradition .because of this education, everyone is satisfied, there is no one to be held accountable and we will be convinced whether we want to be or not. I am seeing why Carl Stone said Bruce a very bright man.

In the column where it is stated, "I have never sensed that the security minister has ever been the sort to ingratiate himself with the desirable elements of politics." that should read UNDESIRABLE elements etc.

F Phipps attitude as the counsel for the JLP has overwhelmed me. The PM and the JLP has no regard for our national security. Even if Phillips had over stepped the boundaries by agreeing and signing the MOUs, the COE was the wrong forum to discuss such a sensitive security document. The constant time wasting tactics by Phipps trying to squeezing in donkey's years irrelevant docs is an insult to the Ja people. Playing politics trying to rob us of the purpose of the Dudus/Manatt enquiry.

Phipps is trying his best but I am afraid in this instance his best is not good enough.Try a he might he cannot divert out attention from the matter at hand. What I expect from this enquiry is to find out who really hired and paid MPP.I sincerely hope Golding will be man enough to finally admit his shortcomings and short sightedness and try to take us around the mulberry bush anymore.I don't believe Ronald Robinson had any reason to lie .I hope Mr Golding just do the right thing, tell the truth,
