ernest withers... he was the photographer that was close to mlk jr. and took many of those candid shots of mlk jr. and lots of civil rights events...

apparently he was also an employee of the fbi... i'm surprised but not totally shocked having been familar with the workings of the fbi and the black panther movement... anyways, check this...

Wow. Not totally shocked either but certainly disapointing to know that a man who has been respected for his role in photographing the era was working against it.

Baddaz, I don't know if this is what led you to the story but Soledad O'Brien on CNN had a documentary on Withers just last night and just by luck I ended up watching it. It puts his actions in some perspective given the pressure that was put on black journalists of that era by the FBI . Certainly worth a watch.
