The airport is not for all Jamaica...the airport is for rich foreigners...nutten especially wrang wid dat imho. I support going after that niche to diversify tourism.

If you look at the airport naming in isolation from everything else ...it is easy or even reasonable to view the people who oppose the name chosen as being foolish or too sensitive.

When it's put in the context of (1) the people's tax dollars funding an entity that they have little to do with (2) a facility named after a white foreigner (3) the name actually will have absolutely NOTHING to do with generating business for the facility (4) where the area already has multiple attractions named after other white foreigners... Firefly, James Bond Beach, Frenchman's Cove etc.... all privately owned which again is ok.

But in this instance public funds are being used to venerate a white foreigner without any consultation from said people who have to repay the money and will NOT use the facility located in their community...those disaffected people are fully entitled to say enuff is enuff.... wuss is one chichi

So...in that overall context there is gonna be a tipping point of ALIENATION.... with a push back from those so alienated.

In this micro issue are the seeds of understanding why the JLP is Jamaica's real and figurative minority party.
