Annual Calabash Literary Festival called off
There will be no Calabash Literary festival this year.
At a recent press conference, festival directors Kwame Dawes and Justine Henzell cited “a combination of factors” including lack of finances, as the reason for the decision.
Dawes said the team will regroup to determine the future of the festival.
The organizers are hoping to stage a big event in 2012, Jamaica's 50th anniversary of independence. Dawes said it was not an easy decision to make and they expect persons to be upset.
