    A call has been made for the establishment of a board to manage the Capital Development Fund (CDF).

    <SPAN class=news_body pGlpJ="0" uKHI0="38"><SPAN>The recommendation was made by Opposition Leader Bruce Golding during Tuesday's sitting of <SPAN id=clicksor_sp_parliament &#111;nmouseover='return ClxLaD("parliament",event)' &#111;nmouseout='ClxTMo("parliament")'>Parliament</SPAN>.</SPAN>

    He was speaking during the debate on a motion giving the government permission to make another withdrawal from the CDF, which is financed by the bauxite levy.

    In a contentious debate, seven <SPAN class=kLink style="FONT-WEIGHT: 400; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: blue! important; BORDER-BOTTOM: blue 1px solid; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana,Arial; POSITION: relative; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent">speakers</SPAN> from the opposition side voiced objections to the government withdrawing the funds.

    Finance Minister Dr. Omar Davies, who tabled the motion, was seeking $2.5 billion to plug the hole in the 2006/2007 <SPAN class=kLink style="FONT-WEIGHT: 400; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: blue! important; BORDER-BOTTOM: blue 1px solid; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana,Arial; POSITION: relative; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent">Budget</SPAN>.
