COPS FLEE AS 'DEAD MAN' RISES
    SHELDON WILLIAMS, STAR WRITER
An 80-year-old man who was thought to be dead, startled police officers and funeral parlour workers, when he awoke from his slumber while they were transporting 'his body' to hospital to be pronounced dead by a doctor.
THE STAR understands that the incident took place on the Pike main road in Manchester about 2 p.m. Thursday.
Information reaching THE STAR is that citizens found the elderly man, who lives by himself, motionless and appearing lifeless.
The police were then alerted and went to the scene and examined the body, before summoning a funeral home to pick up the 'corpse'.
Police and the parlour workers then set out to transport the body to the Percy Junor Hospital in the parish. However, while on their journey, the police and the parlour workers, who were travelling in the same vehicle with the body, heard sounds coming from the rear of the vehicle where the 'dead man' was.
They then had the shock of their lives when they looked around and saw the man who was wrapped in white sheet sitting up while he coughed.

    police officers
The police officers and the parlour workers then reportedly speedily abandoned their vehicle and ran towards a nearby shop where they revealed what had happened to those present.
THE STAR understands that after they had calmed down, they returned to the vehicle in the company of other citizens as they still appeared traumatised.
Reports are that upon their return, the man remained in a sitting position and spoke to them, giving his name as Percival Robinson, aged 80 from Craighead district in the parish. The police later took the man to the Percy Junor Hospital where he was admitted for observation. The Christiana police have confirmed the incident.

I have a picture in my head..
