Christmas road project drive-by killings
EVERTON Wilson, a community activist from the Port Henderson Road community in St Catherine and another man who were carrying out a christmas road work project along that road way were today gunned down in a drive by shooting.
Reports are that the men were cutting down overgrown vegetation when five men drove up.
"The men (gunmen) came out of the vehicle and opened fire on the men (workers) and then made their escape in the vehicle," said a policeman on the scene.
The gunmen were later intercepted by a police team that was in the area.
A shootout ensued but the men escaped into bushes nearby. It not known if any of the men were shot and injured.
The vehicle was seized by the police.
