MONTEGO BAY, St James — A man who was held with 14.5 pounds of cocaine hidden in a body suit he was wearing when he arrived in the island from the Dominican Republic admitted to breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act when he appeared in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court Tuesday.
Speaking through an interpreter, 39-year-old Francisco Hernandez who was in transit to Portugal on November 30, admitted to possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and taking steps to export cocaine.
The court heard that Hernandez arrived in the island and when he was being processed at a security checkpoint, hard surfaces were detected under his clothes.
His clothes were removed the court heard, and the police saw that he was wearing a body suit that contained a number of packages with cocaine.
Hernandez, who is being represented by attorney at law Martyn Thomas, was remanded for sentencing on December 17.
