  • St. Ann's Bay Mayor facing criminal charge

Prosecutors in the St. Ann Criminal Court are to decide whether criminal charges are to be laid against the Mayor of St. Ann's BayIvan Anderson.
Mr. Anderson is alleged to have defrauded a woman of $5 million in a real estate deal.
He was questioned by the investigators from the St. Ann Police in October and a file submitted to the St. Ann Court for a ruling.
It is alleged that some time last year into 2010, Mayor Anderson sold a piece of property in Manchester for $8 million on behalf of a relative.
The relative, who was living abroad, returned to Jamaica in August and requested her $5 million from the deal.
However, Mr. Anderson was reportedly unable to pay over the money.
The matter was then reported to the Brown's Town Police who called in Mayor Anderson for questioning.
A ruling is expected soon in the matter.
