PNP wants Robertson removed over 'Treasure'
Character witness of embattled minister wanted by police
    Jamaica Observer
    Friday, December 03, 2010

THE People's National Party has once again called for James Robertson to be removed from the Cabinet, this time over his association with police suspect Kayon Campbell, otherwise called 'Treasure'.
In a statement a short while ago, the PNP referred to Robertson having used Campbell as a character witness at the recent Jamaica Labour Party annual conference after he (Robertson) was accused of having a contract out on Campbell and others in his West St Thomas constituency. The PNP previously called for Robertson's resignation over those allegations.

"The fact that Mr Campbell is himself the subject of similar charges by the police casts doubt on Mr Robertson's credibility and more importantly on his judgement," said the PNP statement.
Police said that Campbell was offered bail in a case of conspiracy to murder and other offences, but breached his bail conditions and is now being sought by them.
The PNP also referred to the removal of the LNG project from Robertson as further grounds for Robertson to be removed.
"We therefore call for the prime minister's swift action to relieve Mr Robertson of his ministerial responsibilities at least until such time that the matter is resolved," said the PNP.
