Spying on UN

A cable to US diplomats issued under US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's name tells them to collect "biographic and biometric" information - including iris scans, DNA samples and fingerprints - of key officials at the UN.
The diplomats are also ordered to find credit card details, e-mail addresses and passwords and encryption keys used for computer networks and in official communications.
The officials covered include "undersecretaries, heads of specialised agencies and their chief advisers, top SYG [secretary general] aides, heads of peace operations and political field missions, including force commanders".
At least nine similar directives covering various countries are included in the Wikileaks release, both under the name of Mrs Clinton and her predecessor, Condoleezza Rice.

Speaking of secret, one of the papers privy to the wikileak documents has a breakdown of all the cables by classification (secret, secret - no foreigners, unclassified, etc).

Cables from Kingston Jamaica:

Secret - No foreigners -- 3
Secret -- 17
Confidential - No foreigners -- 0
Confidential -- 240
Unclassified/For Official Use Only -- 279
Unclassified -- 599

It also has a graph showing how many of each category there are for each year from the 1960s. All the cables seem to start in 2005 with the lowest number of course being in 2010 (since they only have cables up to late February 2010).

At the rate cables are being released though and given the attacks on wikileaks, there is the possibility that those cables from Kingston may never see the light of day.

The WikiLeaks website is probably defunct henceforth due to the cyberattacks...but the cable database still exists and other news sources like the NY Times & the UK Guardian have an agreement to roll out the info.... so there's a legit shot at access

Those newspapers have chosen to only publish cables from higher profile countries, and we will have to wait until wikkileaks is back online from the cyber attacks.
