A veteran journalist was shot and injured by gunmen moments ago in a robbery in Montego Bay, St. James.
The journalist was shot and injured around 1.30 p.m. today after he challenged gunmen who had held up an insurance company on Union Street in the second city.
Details garnered by The Gleaner are that the journalist was present in the insurance office, which is located on the same building as the JIS office, when the gunmen began robbing the entity.
Reports are that he challenged the men and during the exchange was shot.
He was then rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he is now undergoing treatment. The gunmen escaped with an undetermined sum of money.
A large contingent of police is now on the scene.
