Portland residents angry with JPS
2010-11-16 07:47:02
Several residents of Stony Hill in Portland, Jamaica are angry with the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) after dozens of their electrical appliances
were damaged yesterday.
Approximately 15 householders were affected.
The residents say their appliances were damaged after JPS workmen caused trees they were trimming to snap a power line.
One resident, Norval Aaron, says he suffered a similar loss last year, and despite making a claim to JPS, he is yet to be compensated.
A JPS representative, who turned up on the scene, said the workmen who caused the trees to snap were contracted labourers.
He also says residents who lost appliances
should submit their claims to the JPS for the matter to be reviewed and investigated by a technical team.
