G2K congratulates Tufton on deputy leader win
    Jamaica Observer
    Sunday, November 14, 2010

GENERATION 2000 (G2K), the young professional affiliate of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), today congratulated South West St Elizabeth MP and Minister of Agriculture Dr Christopher Tufton on his election to the office of deputy leader for Area Council 4.
“His ascension is a major step in the right direction for the JLP as the winds for renewal, transformation and change blows across the party and the country,” G2K said in a news release.
G2K described Tufton as a “transformative leader with the essential traits and skills required to effectively lead the party’s machinery in Western Jamaica”.
“Additionally, his distinguished performance as a Member of Parliament and Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries further reinforce his transformative leadership abilities,” G2K said.
Dr Horace Chang, G2K noted, will continue to enjoy its full support. The organisation pointed out that Dr Chang is not only a mentor to several G2K members but has exhibited a style of leadership, thoughtfulness and humility that endears many to him.
“His intellectual acumen and sharp political skills are well recognised and must never be discounted in any way shape or form,” G2K said.

It seems as if the JLP are way ahead of the PNP in terms of forward thinking. If they can get 10 more people like Dr. Tufton in the right positions, then disposing of the PNP, with its intellectually bankrupt leadership, should be no problem. The only confounding variable will be the garrison politics which usually results in the election of the most incapable. No wonder the biggest proponent of garrison politics in today's Jamaica seems to be Portia Simpson.
