Man in custody over corpse in oven

POLICE have taken a suspect into custody in connection with last week's murder of baker, Oneil Douglas, whose body was found in an oven at his Collins Green Avenue workplace in Kingston.

"He turned in himself at the Cross Roads Police Station on Friday. He is, however, being held at the Half-Way-Tree Police Station lock-up," an officer from the Constabulary Communication Network, the police information arm, confirmed Sunday.

Douglas' charred remains were discovered in the oven last Tuesday evening, after he went missing a day before. His corpse was identified by his mother, Violet Denton.

Police on Sunday declined to say the relation between the victim and the suspect, or whether or not the accused man had been charged.

But on Saturday friends of both men explained that the two had been working at the establishment for more than two years, and that they were always in conflict.

One of the men added that on the Monday evening Douglas was speaking to him outside the establishment before he left to get something inside and never returned.

"I never know is dead the man dead why him never come back outside, trust me.

I feel it, I really feel it," he lamented.
