Trini woman jailed
A woman from Trinidad and Tobago has been jailed in England for her role in a bogus marriage plan.
Thirty-year-old Falana McKenzie and a Portuguese man, Jorge Mouchino, were arrested in August in Nottingham, in the English Midlands.
A court heard that Ms Mckenzie, an overstayer, had promised her intended groom £2,000 ($3,174) to marry her.
But staff at the Register Office became suspicious when the couple had difficulty communicating with each other without an interpreter.
Also, Mr Mouchino could not remember his prospective bride's name.
They have each been sentenced to 12 months in jail after which Ms McKenzie will be deported.
