Investment Manager Charles Ross is set to become the new Chairman of the FINSAC Commission of Enquiry.
This was revealed on Thursday night by a senior official in the Ministry of Finance.
The official also confirmed a report first carried by RJR News on Thursday that there was an about turn in the appointment of retired Supreme Court Justice Wesley James to be the new Chairman of the Commission.
The Financial Report has been informed that the Commission will be a two member team comprising Mr. Ross and Warrick Bogle, who were the original members of the Commission.
The source said Cabinet has received advice to proceed with the two men in the wake of potential legal challenges.
As was reported on Thursday, Cabinet has written to Governor General Patrick Allen outlining the Solicitor General's concerns and requesting that the Commission of Enquiry proceed with the two previously appointed Commissioners.
Justice James was poised to preside as Commission Chairman after the Supreme Court ordered that Justice Boyd Carey be removed from the post as he was a FINSAC debtor.
And following the extended delay the FINSAC Commission could resume hearings in a matter of days.
The Finance Ministry official said hearings are tentatively set to resume next Tuesday October 19.
The Commission of Enquiry was set up last year to determine the causes of the financial sector meltdown of the 1990's.
It was also mandated to look into the operations of FINSAC during the crisis.
