What is it the visitors need?
...and if we know what is needed, do we have "the capacity" to adequately service those huge passenger numbers?

Simple things can trip us up?
      E.g. Enough "rest rooms"?

Again it was said the Port Antonio habour is shallow and couldn't hold big ship. I would like to raise that question again as I can see the channel between Navy Island and Titchfield been a problem but what of the Boundbrook Banana Wharf that is now not been used?

Is this the reason why the government fix it up for private boats?

Port Royal have a lot to offer if they fix it right because you could easily include New Kingston, and Blue Mountain plus some cultural activities for the visitors as so many entertainers are in Kingston. You could make a complete pirate village in Port Royal for the passengers and a variety show.

I think one of the main problem with Port Antonio is the people who represent tourism there are after thought or just nice people. Not aggressive enough. I better don't write too much on that because one was my very nice x-teacher. Portie tourism died finally under the member of parliment who was t the time the Tourism Minister(Anthony Abrahams) so go figure.

Yeah Sass and the people in the town are somewhat jokers. About 2-3 years ago, a cruise ship came calling in the town on New Year's Eve; and not ONE store was opened for business, no vendors to sell any wares, because as far as they were concerned it was a holiday, and they were out celebrating "BRUK POCKET" style.

It is not unususal for harbours and channels to require dredging every 100 years or so. It is easier and makes more sense to dredge a harbour which is a gateway to somewhere than to build a multimillion new harbour which is a gateway to nowhere as far as touriism product is concerned.

It is not just dredging. The channel between Titchfiedl and Navy Island where the ships passed is not more than half a mile wide. I remember a few big ships had to stop out at sea and smaller boats were used.

Again they could look into the boundbrook wharf.

this could be an opportunity for the falmouth to really take it to a higher level... improve on all that is good with mobay and ochi...
What is available that can keep interest for the time the people are in port. It have to do with support services - proximity of wide range of attractions. Falmouth itself is at max 1 hour tour.

                        ...so what is within reach?
                        Wide range of attractions?
...where is the easy access to transportation to take the visitors to the various attractions?
...and is there provided other needed services for the hordes that shall descend on them?

Isn't that his job instead of letting us know why HE thinks it is ready and his customers don't know what they are talking about?

Most of the people will end up at the Ochi Cruise attraction for the time been. JUTA man will make a money.

btw - Peter R's reminder on Port Royal is timely.

...as Port Antonio her time will come...most likely back to the days of ***** rating!

I would like Port Antonio to become a playground for the very, very rich and exceedingly famous. Yup! May they came to Port Antonio in their tens of thousands...with the local movers and shakers having the development of the town and its environs retaining its beauty and its charm.

The real people in tourism are gone. The days when even school children were accomodating and people repected tourism as they made a living from it are far gone. These young buds don't understand one thing.

You should have local cultural groups welcoming the people and nuff sellers a try fi make a dollar.
