JAMAICA Labour Party (JLP) caretaker for the Lauriston Division, Neil Powell, says the recent murders of eight persons from two families in Tredegar Park, St Catherine was an attempt to rid the community of JLP supporters.
"It was a criminal operation to wipe the community of JLP supporters, why is it that majority of the people killed were aligned to the JLP?" said Powell.
The caretaker was on a tour of the area along with ministry of national security, Dwight Nelson today.
Tredegar Park is inhabited by supporters of both major political parties. 'Monkey Town' — the section of the community where the latest round of killings occurred — is known to be aligned to the JLP.
Police say the gunmen are members of the notorious Klansman gang.
