Cops in beating, shooting of man ordered arrested
    Saturday, July 31, 2010

COMMISSIONER of Police Owen Ellington last night ordered the immediate arrest of the policemen involved in the beating and shooting death of a man in Buckfield, St Ann yesterday.

The police chief ordered the arrest of the men following the viewing of an amateur video which showed the man lying on the ground, appearing to be unarmed and subdued.

Commissioner Ellington has also instructed that stop orders be placed on the policemen involved at all ports of entry.

Ellington, according to a release from the constabulary, applauded the bravery of the citizen who brought this incident to public notice and has encouraged others who witness any act of police misconduct to do likewise, "as this provides the best opportunity for the police to rid the force of those members who would want to act outside of the law".

"The entire JCF family deeply regrets this incident, and we want to apologise to the family of the person involved and all decent citizens of Jamaica. I will take every action necessary to prevent any future occurrence and I am asking citizens to be courageous, strong, and alert," Ellington said

thanks. i hope Jawge watches with Carolyn Gomes.

pity it didn't show the beating the man received from the police before he was allegedly murdered by them.

          Commish Orders Cops' Arrest

          Ellington
POLICE COMMISSIONER Owen Ellington has ordered the immediate arrest of a group of policemen who were caught on video beating and shooting to death a man who was unarmed and had been subdued by the lawmen.

Following the examination of a citizen's video of the incident in Buckfield, St Ann, on Thursday, Ellington instructed that stop orders be placed on the policemen involved at all ports of entry.

Commissioner Ellington yesterday applauded the bravery of the citizen who brought the incident to public attention. He encouraged more Jamaicans who witness any act of police misconduct to do likewise, as this provides the best opportunity for the police to rid the force of those members who would want to act outside of the law.

          Regrets

"The entire JCF family deeply regrets this incident, and we want to apologise to the family of the person involved and all decent citizens of Jamaica. I will take every action necessary to prevent any future occurrence and I am asking citizens to be courageous, strong and alert," Ellington said.

Yesterday, the Constabulary Communica-tion Network (CCN) reported that the man killed by the police, Ian Lloyd, attacked them after stabbing Loveta Wilson to death. The incident occurred in Ocho Rios, St Ann.

The CCN reported that while the police were trying to apprehend Lloyd he attacked them with stones and bottles. It said four of the lawmen were injured.

"Continuing to unleash his fury, Lloyd stabbed at one of the lawmen and was shot. Both Lloyd and Wilson were taken to the St Ann's Bay Hospital where they died," the CCN added.

Maybe the police force should be fired, en bloc! They have been doing this sort of thing for decades. Finally, one has been caught red-handed!

Would love to hear their defence! Not just the cop who pulled the trigger, but the rest of them who beat the man and stood around approving the murder.

based on the evidence he had no choice but to move to arrest all cops involved

                            Done sometimes!
The saying "what they do all the time" is an unfair statement.

                              What was he thinking?!

Based on how long trials take from arrest to sentencing...he shall have a long time to think on his actions.
                              ...then...????

Under BUD policy this cop when found guilty would receive draconian punishment. I do not believe in the death penalty...but I would not fight it being applied here...

The cop is a dwag hearted killer.
