What gone bad a mawnin...

One night I drew a magical hand - six sixes and double blank. Missing six-blank, I cutely elected to pose double blank (looking for blank-six) but my folly was soon exposed. Left-and opponent quickly went two blanks passing the board. His next play forced me to introduce six which, when passed around to him, meant that his six-blank play was more deadly than helpful. After the smoke cleared, Autry dryly reminded me that it was dangerous to ride bareback, especially for youngsters still dependent on parents. "If blank-six dropped ... ." I protested weakly. He retorted "What gone bad a mawnin ... ."
I remembered that game while watching Edward Seaga do the talk-show circuit after our security farces' bumbling, bungling, botched brutality in Tivoli. The anxiety to blame 'Driva' was as transparent as the determination to defend his creation of the "Mother of All Garrisons". But, regarding blame, he needn't have bothered. Students from Ray Charles Kindergarten can see where responsibility for that calamity, disguised as joint military-police operations, resides. For nine months, Driva, used every political/legal trick imaginable to avoid 'Presi's' extradition. Every Machiavellian manoeuvre was public. Even Cabinet's belated volte-face was somehow leaked, causing widespread panic. If that wasn't enough, Driva himself gave Presi a nationally televised 48 additional hours notice of the Government's plan. Presi used these advantages to diligently make travel arrangements.
Misdirection
After that, only retards would've expected Presi to remain in Tivoli waiting for the security 'farces' to arrest him. And the security farces/Driva fell for Presi's misdirection via his disciples' barricaded bravado: "We will dead fi Dudus!!" They allowed orchestrated acts of terror against the police to provoke them into carrying out Presi's wishes (his lawyer's radio mantra sounded like Anancy's "don't throw me in the briar patch!") by ignoring well-established military siege techniques; storming the barricades; declaring "war" against non-existent enemies; imposing extrajudicial capital punishment, regardless of the nature of any alleged crime; and wasting expensive military shock and awe on spectators.
Driva's reckless handling of the government vehicle is indirectly responsible for these deaths. He should relinquish the car keys. Spin doctors' subsequent lame attempts to convert reckless endangerment into heroic assaults on crime would be funny if they weren't so desperately sad.
So, while Presi vacationed, security farces, in bold shows of arrant stupidity resulting in at least one additional unnecessary death, combed the one place common-sense dictated he wouldn't be found, namely the Corporate Area. Immediately bounty was offered, security farces were tipped off into catching Presi and Reverend Al Miller auditioning for the 'Driving Miss Daisy' remake.
Equally, Seaga's self-serving defence of his Tivoli 'model' begs reply. He alleges:
Tivoli was created, based on social studies research, as an idyllic garden with all necessary amenities.
It worked until PNP became government and neighbouring constituencies attacked Tivoli, forcing its self-defence.
What went wrong
When asked what went wrong, he replied, he didn't give "them" multimillion-dollar contracts allowing "them" to finance independent criminal networks.
Really? First, Seaga omits from his idyllic creationist tale ('Let there be Tivoli') the inescapable truth that, as deliberate policy, it was built to be occupied by Labourites only. Again, kindergartners could've anticipated the inevitable PNP copycatting. Second, he has conveniently forgotten that Tivoli's precursor was the violent bulldozing of Back-a-Wall and consequent political cleansing. One-eyed foresight could've predicted violence would beget violence or, as a famous man once said, "Blood for blood; fire for fire!"
"Every day carry bucket to the well, one day de bucket bottom mus' drop out. Everyt'ing crash!"
And, regarding multimillion-dollar contracts: Which prime minister took such a keen interest in Government's procurement process to construct a coffee plant at Tarentum that the award eventually went to Views Limited, allegedly owned by Jim Brown's sister? That contract was forever in litigation/arbitration.
Politicians, including Edward Seaga, must accept responsibility for these garrisons becoming crime-riddled communities.
"Look ya now, everyt'ing crash!
Firemen strike. Watermen strike.
Telephone company too.
Down to de policemen too.
What gone bad a mawning
caan come good a evening, whoy"
Don't be fooled by idyllic fairytales. Garrisons were created to ensure safe seats. Seaga was determined to change west Kingston from the one-term seat it had been for a series of political greats. Then Tivoli begat Rema; Rema begat Arnett; et al until Jamaica was consumed. Seaga ought now to seek oral shelter; avoid strident political outbursts which only remind Jamaicans why they repeatedly rejected him; and hope that history will be kind.
Peace and love.
