There is no contest. Davies is an unmitigated disaster...if he was allowed to continue, Jamaica would have been irreparable damaged in 5 years. The whole show would have collapsed on its own weight.

Completely unsustainable and could only end one way...badly.

It would be interesting to find out how they get their poll sample because here are the comments below:

18 years of failing economy and people still favor Omar. Crazy. Audley is doing a great job thus far.

What kind of silly analysis is this. In the last three years interest rate on the international market has hovered around 0%. The fact that I signed a mortage 5 to 7 years ago at 6% and today my wife walked in the same bank and renewed it at 2% does not make her smarter than me.
Secondly when does entering into a borrowing arrangement with the IMF becomes and achievements. The EU would not even allow that faith to meets it members. Find one country apart for the UK that found sucess with an IMF arrangement. There sucess (the UK) only came because it was brief and they found north sea oil. Finaly I work in the international Financial sector and I have never heard of this special world wide praise for Minister Shaw. It's always amazing to here Jamaicans engage in these ridiculous accolades on themselves. Economic improvement will not come form Shaw. Its will come when our Country manage to increase its production of goods and services. Finaly, for Mr. Chung when since borrowing to finance growth was a bad thing.

I am here wonder who are these people, who made up this poll's demography. Omar Davis and the PNP as ran our country under the ground, I guess that Jamaicans forget too easily about the 18 years of mismanagement of the country's economy. I wonder how many Jamaicans remember what our national debts were in 1989 when the PNP took office and what it was when they were defeated 2 1/2 years ago. Now we have a poll lie this publish I hope all Jamaicans realize that the situation that our country now faces was inflicked on use by the PNP 18 years of mismanagement and wasteful spending has lead us to where we are now. Someone has to stop it and with new measures that the now government are implementing and has implemented will hurt us in the short term, it has to be done or else it will get worst. Not to stary too far from the point, I also want the PM to know that a lot of Jamaicans overseas supports his recent actios on crime and would love to see more done. Walk good Jamaicas.

This is not surprising as the continous campaign by loyal PNP activisits as so call journalsits and editors along with other elements will give impression all bad things of PNP is good and all good things of JLP is bad. The many good things happening in Jamaica despite world recession is hidden or push aside.Evil will never prevail against good for long neither will gates of hell prevail against kingdom of God.God work in mysterious ways and soon truth and good will prevail. JLP will have landslide victory at next elections as God work must be done to clean up this nation.

The same poll that is bashing the govt. is showing some facts about how Shaw has helped the economy. I wonder if Bill Johnson is asking people who are well- informed these questions or is he going into the PNP and JLP garrisons. The PNP was in power for 18 years and did nothing. We are always looking for a quick fix. Are our memories that short to remember that Mr. Davies was knee-deep in the FINSAC mess that caused people to go homeless and lose their hard-earned businesses.
Bill Johnson needs to get a real job and stop being an apologist for the inept PNP. Just remeber they had 18 yrs. to redeem themselves and did nothing. Copare that to three yrs. If the PNP had run the country the way how they always have a solution now for everything the JLP does they would still be in power.

The short sightedness of many Jamaicans is a GRIM reality of their response. With the resume of Omar Davies and his years of mismanagement as a PNP Finance Minister, no wonder why politicians can MANIPULATE the minds of so many Jamaicans!! The inability to see things objectively and the lack of long term vision!! It is time for us to call a spade a spade and not allow our immediate situations to blind us!!! Now with all this: '' He pointed out that Shaw has set out on a course to correct the problems of the past decade, but despite some positives at the macro level, this has not started to reach the man in the street.

Shaw, who has held the country's purse strings for just under three years, has racked up a somewhat impressive list of achievements at a difficult time.

He successfully carried out a local debt exchange that has won congratulations all across the world.'' Now with all this accomplishment, we still want to go backwards?? WOW!!!!

Mr. Shaw is the minister however in the streets, some people don't see him as being a financial brains, they see the consultants as the ones who are really putting fwd the policies and Mr. Shaw as the "PR Man" . the budget blunders over the past few years have also been taken into consideration. The handling of the policemen, teachers and nurses renumeration is to be noted.

I don't know why we attribute the going back to the IMF as a Shaw doing. It was the same administration when they were advise by many, early when the financial crisis began in the USA, says it was not necessary. At the time when private sector interest offer the debt swap, Mr. Shaw flatly rejected the idea.
What caused him to make the u-turn, his back was against the wall, figure Marcus Garvey prophecy reach him. Black men will never know themselves until their backs are against the wall.
So honestly, let us be grateful that when shaw's back was against the wall he saw the light, but for heaven's sake let us not attribute these results to his creativity or ingenuity. Mr. Shaw is going to take a lot of schooling to graduate in this one term administration
